Helen FitzGerald is a screenwriter and best selling author of ten acclaimed adult and young adult thrillers, widely known for her "domestic noir" style and razor-sharp dark comedic tone. Based in Glasgow and originally from Victoria, Australia, Helen’s storytelling is defined by a gritty, subversive humor honed during her fifteen years as a criminal justice social worker.

She gained international prominence with her 2013 novel THE CRY, which was longlisted for the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year and adapted into a hit 2018 BBC drama series starring Jenna Coleman. Her 2019 thriller, WORST CASE SCENARIO, further cemented her reputation; it was named a "Book of the Year" by The Guardian and The Daily Telegraph, won the CrimeFest Last Laugh Award, and is currently being adapted for the screen by Helen herself in partnership with Kudos Pictures.

Helen’s television career continues to surge with two major international productions. She co-created the original series CARELESS for Channel 4, Synchronicy Films and Easy Tiger Productions, which is currently filming in Australia. Additionally, Helen is currently writing her original six-part crime drama TWO BIRDS —produced by Chapter One and a co-production between ITV and Channel 9 Australia— the series is scheduled to begin shooting in Australia mid-2026.
