Shady El Hamus

Shady is a Dutch-Egyptian writer and director and studied at the MA Directing Fiction Course at the National Film and Television School in the UK. His first feature ABOUT THAT LIFE that he co-wrote and directed won a Dutch Academy Award for Best Screenplay. His second feature FOREVER RICH was the first Dutch Netflix Original Film, which he also wrote and directed. It was released globally on Netflix in October 2021 to raving reviews and was included in a New York Times piece as ‘1 of 5 action films to watch right now’.

His third feature CRYPTO BOY, also for Netflix, came out in October 2023 starring his little brother Shahine El-Hamus (a 22 year old Dutch Academy award winning actor) and his father. Before his feature films, he wrote and directed a couple short films, Nightshade was the Dutch submission for the Academy Awards in 2018.

Most recently, Shady co-wrote and directed a play.  The play has received rave reviews, and is currently touring The Netherlands.
